How To Cope During Harmattan Weather

How To Cope During Harmattan Weather
The Harmattan season is here again. Harmattan is a hot, dry wind that blows from the northeast or east in the western Sahara and is strongest in late fall and winter (late November to mid-March). It usually carries large amounts of dust, and the north is the real casualty of this harsh weather. During the harmattan, the weather tends to appear harsh to our hair, skin and health.

Your Skin
Use mild moisturizing soap or body bath
creams.
Do not completely dry your skin after
shower, use body oil to retain moisture on
the skin after bath. These are some things that are very good to use to protect your skin from the harsh weather.
Apply moisturizing cream or lotion all over
your body including your under feet.
Apply hand cream during the day and
night before going to bed.
Glycerin is very good for the skin especially during this season it makes the skin soft and supple, adding the vitamin E gel to your body cream or applying directly on the skin.
Dressing
Dressing warmly helps prevent you developing cough and cattarh, wear clothes with lots of Layer ,it keeps you warm.
Consider emergencies, use Head warmers, scarves, gloves and appropriate footwear, even girls have brought on a new dress which looks sexy, the long or short socks.

Your Face
Use mild soaps (even if you have oily or combination skin).
Avoid using facial cleansers and toners that contain alcohol or astringents,
use only mild facial cleansers and toners.
Always moisturize your face after cleansing.
Remember to apply lip balm or lip gloss. Always moisturize your lips before going to bed.

Your Hair
Wash hair with shampoo and conditioner as usual, when you wash your hair don’t dry hair completely to retain some moisture in hair, also apply hair oil, pink oils, hair sprays, lotions and creams to hair daily or every other day depending on the type of hair. Some ladies make protective braids that will take them throughout the period of Harmattan to avoid hair breakage.
